Care instruction

Your CRAFTECH gear is built to perform in demanding conditions — and with the right care, it will stay that way. Follow these guidelines to preserve the technical properties of your garments, including fabric integrity, DWR water-repellent coating, and color fastness.

Washing

Machine wash at a maximum of 40°C (104°F) on a gentle or delicate cycle. High temperatures can break down technical fibers and degrade the DWR coating that keeps water beading off the surface.

  • Use a mild, liquid detergent free from bleach, optical brighteners, and fabric softeners
  • Fabric softeners coat the fibers and reduce breathability and moisture-wicking performance
  • Bleach and aggressive chemicals permanently damage the DWR layer and weaken the fabric structure
  • Turn garments inside out before washing to protect outer coatings and printed or embroidered details
  • Wash dark and light colors separately to prevent color transfer

Drying

Avoid high-heat drying. Excessive heat is one of the most common causes of premature wear in technical fabrics.

  • Air dry flat or hang in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight
  • If using a tumble dryer, select the lowest heat setting only
  • Do not wring or twist the garment — gently press out excess water instead
  • Avoid drying on radiators or near open flames

Fabric & DWR Coating

CRAFTECH garments use high-performance technical fabrics treated with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish. This coating causes water to bead and roll off the surface rather than soaking into the fabric, keeping you dry and reducing the weight of the garment in wet conditions.

Over time and with repeated washing, the DWR coating may diminish. Here's how to maintain it:

  • After washing, tumble dry on low heat for 20–30 minutes — heat reactivates the DWR molecules and restores water repellency
  • Alternatively, iron the garment on a low setting through a damp cloth to achieve the same effect
  • If water no longer beads on the surface, apply a DWR re-treatment spray (available separately) following the product instructions

Ironing & Storage

  • Iron on a low to medium setting if needed — always use a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric
  • Do not iron directly over zippers, Velcro, or reflective elements
  • Store garments in a cool, dry place away from prolonged sunlight exposure
  • Hang structured outerwear rather than folding to preserve shape
  • Ensure garments are fully dry before storing to prevent mildew

General Tips:

Spot clean minor stains immediately with a damp cloth to reduce the need for full washes

Avoid contact with sharp objects, rough surfaces, or chemicals that can abrade or dissolve technical coatings

Follow the care instructions - specific items may have additional requirements

Proper care extends the life of your gear and keeps it performing at its best.
